Play your part in the commissioning of one of Australia’s first operating solar thermal power plants
This month VAST Solar will throw open the doors to its 6MWth CSP pilot plant in Jemalong NSW to mechanical, electrical and civil engineers keen to apply their skills, passion and innovative thinking to a 3-6 month plant commissioning project.
The VAST Solar CSP pilot plant stands to be one of the first operating solar thermal power plants in Australia and this Commissioning project will culminate in the integration and deployment of an operational thermal power plant into Australia’s energy network. The success of this project will transform Australia’s energy sector by providing dispatchable and cost effective energy 24 hours a day.
A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity – successful applicants for this Commissioning project will live on-site and work alongside VAST’s experienced team of engineers to participate in the day-to-day planning for and conduct of project commissioning activities.
The Commissioning project will provide participating solar thermal engineers with first-hand experience of the operational priorities and day-to-day challenges of CST plant operation – arming them with the real-world skills, knowledge and acumen that comes with direct involvement in real-world application and integration of solar thermal technologies.
For this valuable knowledge-sharing activity, VAST Solar is seeking expertise in the following areas:
- Commissioning and planning
- Steam generator operation
- Plant DCS (ZAT is the vendor)
- Instrumentation and control
- Steam and turbine/generator
- Air cooled condenser
- Measurement and validation
